It all started in the desert, a girls trip to Palm Springs, in search of a serious detox from life and over eating. As veterans of several juice cleanse and detox programs, we didn’t know what to expect from a desert juice oasis. It turned out to be an experience that will resonate as a turning point for both of us. We emerged feeling healthy, weighing less, glowing, bright-eyed and bounding with new-found energy and confidence. It changed the way we viewed nutrition, health and living. Embarking on seasonal juice cleanses would then become a way of life for us, and our friends and family.
After our desert inspiration, while on a trip to Mexico, the idea of Thrive was born. We wanted to inspire others to discover the life-changing benefits of cleansing and find a healthier way to live. We enrolled in the Institute of Integrative Nutrition in New York. Through our studies, we learned over 100 dietary theories, practical lifestyle management techniques, and innovative teaching methods with some of the world’s top health and wellness experts. Teachers included Dr. Andrew Weil; Dr. Deepak Chopra; Dr. David Katz; Dr. Walter Willett, Chair of Nutrition at Harvard University; Geneen Roth, bestselling author and expert on emotional eating; and many other leading researchers and nutrition authorities.
I’m not like most nutritionists – I am a foodie and an athlete, who happens to love vegetables. My health and happiness does not come from willpower, but from my love of wine, meaningful relationships, and a career that excites me.
From my first Weight Watcher meeting at 16 to a 500-calorie HCG diet at 30, I’ve tried everything to be thin. The problem was that every diet left me tired, cranky, temporarily satisfied, and craving sweets. As an addict to the scale I let the numbers determine my mood. It wasn’t until I needed to find an alternative to curing 10 years of chronic Lyme disease that I found the power that food and lifestyle choices can have on one’s overall wellness. Once I got back in touch with my body and actually listened to it, I knew how to give it what it needed so I could be my best self. I was free from deprivation, free from searching for the next diet, and free from feeling bad about my body.
I found my flow and now it’s easy. Since then I’ve been passionate about helping others demystify health fads and stop fighting themselves. Everyone deserves to feel amazing about his or her body. Losing weight, eating healthy and nourishing our body can and should be easy and fun.

Being passionate about health and wellness is something I never thought would happen to me in my lifetime. I was never that concerned about what I was eating. I didn’t count calories or look at food labels growing up. I just loved food and I loved everything that went along with food; drinking great wine, decadent desserts and being out with great friends and family. It wasn’t that I was unhealthy, but I wasn’t my best self. I didn’t know how to change. I thought it would be too hard and I was having fun. But something was off, I didn’t feel right and I knew I could be better.
I discovered how to get there through nutrition and now I have found my way. Most surprising of all, is that it was easy. I feel incredibly lucky. I want to help others change their course and feel fabulous inside their bodies, find confidence and radiance within themselves. I still love to enjoy food but I have discovered a greater love with eating healthy foods and having balance in my life. I don’t crave sweets anymore, I crave vegetables! I enjoy the pleasure of eating and I never feel guilty or upset – I feel amazing! I am not a health-nut but I have discovered that making good choices, listening to my body, surrounding myself with positive people and doing work that nourishes my soul are the keys to my good health and well-being. I believe everyone should find their way to their most amazing selves. I am excited about helping others with that journey to a life of great health and fabulousness!
